1g head washers?? Removing valves?

Today I stripped out everything in my 1g turbo head. I flipped the head over to see the valve side and 2 washers came out. What are they for? Where do they go?

How do you remove the valves and springs? I know there is a special tool but is there a way to remove it without it?

If you dont care about the valves then take a socket the size of the spring, Place it on the spring and wack it with a hammer. That will allow the keepers to come out and the springs to come off. But doing this was could damage the valves.
