Fishing 2012
Anybody here do any fishing? It's that time of the year and I'm starting to gear up again. Tell us what your setup is and show what fishes you have caught this year.
My setup is a spinning 9530 Pflueger Patriarch on a G. Loomis NRX 7'1" Medium Ex-fast action. Almost as light as it can get with a great performance.
I went out today and got skunked at the river. Looking to do more fishing on Thursday hoping to catch a big one.

Re: Fishing 2012
Me and a couple friends are gonna beat Forest Lake up for some skis. Gonna try a new technique this year, involves alot less vasting and a little more drinking.
Also fish for doggies on my mother in laws lake. It's been a few years now and I've been close to the state record twice. Maybe this year is the year!
I catch and release everything too.
All rods are St.Croix
All reals are Calcutta baitcasters

Re: Fishing 2012
I do some fishing, but am not serious about it. We have a few good pike lakes around here and they don't get fished hard cuz most people can't fillet them. They put up a nice fight too. Do a little bass and walleye fishing too and of course taking the kids out for some bluegill fishing.
We bought a 17' lund last year with 115hp evinrude and bow mount trolling motor, older but well taken care of. Needs a new fish finder bad and haven't even had it on the water yet!

Re: Fishing 2012
Nice fish! I plan to get out a lot this summer, havent been out yet and didnt get out all winter due to poor ice conditions and no snow to grip on. Should be a good spring.

I'm on the same page with you on fishing>cars. I didn't get to go a single time last year, which was quite upsetting. But its time for a new rod/reel combo, and to just get out there and fish.
Fishing and guns are on my list much above cars. The kick between the legs, everytime you put gas in, is also what is keeping me away from cars.

Re: Fishing 2012
Forest is an awesome lake for it! We also make it up to the Park rapids area a few times a year since my brother inlaw lives there. We fish Mantrap, elk, and Bemidji. Last year my two friends fished in the PMTT so I didn't get out much with them, and haven't heard if they will be doing it this yr or not. He did call me though and said he wants to try a few diffrent things on Forest this yr. So much excite!

Re: Fishing 2012
I actually fish Linwood lake a lot. We catch a lot of pike out of there and some nice bass also. Great place to relax because there are hardly any boats there.

Re: Fishing 2012
i have gotten pretty good at bass fishing and i fish a few turnny's in the summer i use mostly for baitcasters i use lamiglas excel rods, and abu garcia revo's(got 2 stx and 2 sx) for spinning rods and reels i like the gandermoutain gsx II elite with shimano sahara. went down to the river last week and hit them hard ended up just using senkos and catching smallies and large mouth at the same location(this is very rare) reeled them in almost every other cast

Re: Fishing 2012
I'd like to fish Linwood sometime since Im literally minutes away. For now I stick to my mother in laws lake for the non-serious stuff.
Here's a few pics of the fish we've caught out of the lake.
Brother inlaw 38" pike
Brother in law and me doggie hunting
22"caught in July
10" sunny
Couple of bass
The lake has no access so it is for the most part and is only 60 acres but is fed by a larger lake and the sunrise river
We've even caught ski's in this lake.

Re: Fishing 2012
Went out today. Caught a few pikes and a few 2-4lb bass and snapped a pic of my wife's 33" northern.
She wouldn't hold it so my brother in law had to.

Got this 25" Walleye on Memorial day fishing with my dad in Wisconsin. Weighed 4lbs 14oz. It made two meals for the gf and I.

Re: Fishing 2012
As soon as I can shoot fish with my 10-.22 (legally) I'll start fishing. I'm no good at getting fish, but I can take care of the drinking
