Living in South Carolina? Let me hear it!

I am from MN, but spent my summers in Texas, Arizona, and a ton of my family is in the South, namely Florida, so the weather is no bother to me, but curious what life is like in that specific area? I have one friend not far from Greenville which had my interest but Columbia/Lake Carolina looked nice?

I have debated several times moving from Columbia area to Greenville for better work. Amd schools for the kids.

And its basically right in the middle between charlotte (1hr) and Columbia (45min)

You are also much closer to performance shops with dynos. And you'd still be an hour or less to CMP. And like 1.5 to Darlington

This is very interesting, I was mainly loving the politics and geography of the area and I have a friend who lives over in Keowee and loves it. I was drawn to Columbia due to the established business etc but good to hear my initial attraction to Greenville isn't bad! Thank you so much for the insight, I think on my next visit to family in FL, I'll stop by for a tour. Lake Carolina had my recent eye, but I feel that Greenville is a little more the environment I enjoyed passing through a few times over in Chatanooga.

Haha got my e85 FRS started in below 0 this morning so that's a good sign, but yea in general a little bit of me bitching out, and kinda not a fan of the politics, and general public of the metro area. Also how far your dollar goes is important.

Well so I have my dog who's happy to be with me wherever, but the lady and I have our core family up here. That said, no kids, and probably won't be for a long time, and by then I think at least my side, would be relocating within a state away anyhow. So in reality you are all right, in that the clock is ticking for sure. I'll see how far I can make it, and how the road trip through the mountains to Myrtle Beach, changes some minds. Maybe this upcoming summer for sure. This last bitter week had me real irritated about my zip code haha.

I agree moving while you can. But on that same note, if you plan to have kids and you are planning on moving away from your family/parents, keep in mind that having them around with kids can be a total life saver sometimes. Have a couple kids and want to go have an evening with just you and the lady, having parents around that can watch them is priceless.

Even with kids I'd take more overall happiness vs. occasional.
Once your parents get real old they can watch the kids on long visits and will want to.

:/ They already do this for my pup once and a while and love him, and yea that was my main worry. So if they weren't far away, where they could come stay for a while (they are near retirement/moving side business down to St Petersburg) it might not be as bad, but a night out is a night out, and things happen. Emergencies aren't planned.

I've found this with my brother. We shared a damn room growing up until he moved out, then moved straight to Tampa. I see him twice a year and we're closer than ever because we can enjoy everything about each other's lives without interfering or overstaying welcomes. I think this would be a blessing really.

I read this two ways haha but I can tell what you meant I think. Hell they'll be 45min away from my brother in Tampa, and as much as he denies it, he'll have a family like me even sooner, and before me, or my parents move. Might be a good prompt for my folks to head down. Literally only a few people here in MN on my side aren't already planning a move to the region, but local, and regional are different. Driving to Chi town to take care of family is doable, but not ideal. Her side is another story, it's messy, complicated, and honestly/fondly, they won't mind since they are all over the midwest/grainbelt as it is with infrequent visits. She's fine with the idea thankfully.

If not, or if things change, enjoy it while you can, you can always move back if you miss it!
