Scam????? I think so
About two weeks ago I put my AHP exhuast on dsmtrader.com, found a buyer who would buy it for 375.00$ without shipping costs. I told him to send me 45.00 for shipping and we'll call it good, but he wanted to make sure that i got enough for shipping, he insisted on sending me 3000$ in a cashiers check. His idea was then for me to send the rest of the money back to him, so about 2500$ He gave me his name, along with a few others and emailed me countless times from different emails. I recieved the check today and it looked as fake as michael jacksons nose, the bank was - Bank of America Agenices in Wisconsin, US Bank and me looked up the bank and found nothing, i still put it into my account but i will not touch i until it clears, which should be in about 2 months I already sent a nasty email to the buyer of my exhaust and explained to him that there will be no exhaust or money sent back for at least two months(just in case it clears). What you all think, and have you guys run into similar situations? Seriously, my bank lady laughed because of how stupid the check looked and how it all sounded, she said i was being scammed all the way!

Re: Scam????? I think so
This isn't new, people started the "overpay-cashiers check" thing a while back. I had someone try to buy my car and then have it shipped to another country.

Re: Scam????? I think so
Why did you even respond to the person? It was defenitly a scam. Haven't you heard of them before? It even says on the bottom of the reply you got from the guy on trader that the replies like that are fraud. If I post something up, I tell people to not even bother trying to respond if they are going to say something like that. I was trying to tell them to go f#ck themselves, but there is a filter and you cant do anything like that.

Re: Scam????? I think so
I can't believe you even went for it, let alone deposited the fake check into your account. You know when it bounces, you will be charged as well, right? Even though it's clearly not your fault, the bank will charge like $10 bucks for NSF check.... glad to see you don't mind wasting your time & money...

My name is Jessica Dabur (Mrs). I have interest in buying your 1995 Eagle Talon for sale at $7,500. I need you to give me more details of it and reasons why you are selling it out as this will give me great confidence in the purchase. I will like you to send me your offer price of the vehicle so i can send you check for payment in a couple of days. Payment will be made asap in a certified check. If you accept this method, feel free to email me back. I will prefer you send me your full name/address where check could be made payable to for convinience.

Re: Scam????? I think so
The sad part is that 99% of the people know about this scam, but all it takes is that other 1%, who fall for it, to make it worth the effort for these guys to do this.

The check I used to buy my car was like that. Bank of America something or other. All mine was is a check for a charge card that I had. If you used those checks the balance would only be like 4.9% apr or some shit for the life of the balance only if you used the check. *shrugs* Maybe that is what he was doing and wanted the rest for something else. Or it could be a scam..

Re: Scam????? I think so
The best part is when you cash the fake check and get arrested for check fraud.
