More Fuel!

I have been thinking about my fuel system, and how I would like to change a thing or two about it. I know I have some bad injector seals (head side) they are on order. I know I need a new O2,dam heater circuit, the Bosch only had 42000 miles on it. So anyway, I’m interested to hear what you all have done to your fuel system?
I know most of you like me have upgraded pumps, rewired, bigger injectors, piggy backed or stand alone engine management, but what about the fuel lines themselves or the filter or that dam small main line before the rail?

Re: More Fuel!

Maybe a little bigger than you want but... -10AN feed line, -6AN return, A1000 pump and A1000 FPR, 100micron Fuel filter, PTE 1600cc injectors, stock rail.

Everything is in this thread...

Re: More Fuel!

Stock everything except pump. Its a rewired 255hp. I made 571whp before the pump maxed out.

LOL, my bad, I meant the lines, filter, regulator, etc. Ok, so, stock everything except pump, and 880cc injectors.

Re: More Fuel!

cher's setup was all stock, except for the 880cc injectors, and a low-pressure 255 lph fuel pump. I don't even think he had a FPR, but I could be mistaken. anyway, he made 617, as you all know...stock lines I thought were good till 670-700ish? Am I wrong here?

Re: More Fuel!

I have an aeromotive AFPR, 255hp and 950's and I made 511 AWHP. I wouldn't worry about it right now.

Re: More Fuel!

I would leave the stock fuel line from the tank, and change every thing before the filter to the rail, and get a different FPR. This pic is the main thing that bugs me. stock Vs 8 an before rail.

True, there's a guy or two making 700whp on stock lines and a single Bosche 044 pump and a regulator.

Re: More Fuel!

I will probily not need this much fuel with a 16g with a 225lph pump and 550s, but I wonder how far 550s would go with 8 an lines instead of stock lines.

Re: More Fuel!

Not any farther. If you want more out of 550s, you can turn up the fuel pressure.

Re: More Fuel!

If I take stock fuel pressure lets say, 28 X (550inj / 450inj) = 34.2psi is what I should set the FPR at right?

Re: More Fuel!

not sure what you are asking now.

are you trying to find a base pressure you can run through a set of 450s so that they'll flow the same as a set of 550s at oem base pressure?

Re: More Fuel!

The new fuel pressure would be 34.2 psi, stock would be 28 with vacuum hose attached, spec is for a car with a turbo and manual transmission. unless my book is gay.

Re: More Fuel!

I dont remember if you have a 1g or 2g... So I'll list both. 1g stock fuel pressure is 36-38psi. 2g stock fuel pressure is 43-44psi.

Re: More Fuel!

Injectors are normally rated at 43.5 psi also. So, when the 1G runs 36-39psi stock, you aren't getting the full rated capacity of the injectors. If you run 550s at a base pressure of 52psi, then they will act like 600cc injectors. I like to try to keep the base pressure + boost pressure under 85psi. When you turn up the base pressure though, it is harder on the fuel pump. So, if you are running out of fuel pump, but not injector, then you might want to actually try lowering your base pressure to get more flow out of the pump.

Re: More Fuel!

I have set my fuel psi to 43 based on logging info. so I was not off to much than.
But by math 38psi X (550/450) = 46.4 psi. I still have some room to adjust positive for fuel on the AFC. Exc at idle I’m +50% at 1000rpm with 119 trim.

My specifications for 90-94 turbo engines is
36-38 psi with vac hose detached
26-28 psi with vac hose attached

Re: More Fuel!

Are you running 550's? It sounded like you were earlier. If so that equation you are using doesn't mean anything at all. That equation is used to figure out the fuel pressure needed to get 450's to act like 550's.

Re: More Fuel!

You can make a very good amount on most of the stock componets, the biggest restriction IMO is the fitting if you run lines to your factory rail. As seen in the pic it REALLY necks down. Dent Sport Garage will weld on AN fittings to the factory rail and it helps considerably!

In the somewhat near future I'll be running the Bosch 044 fuelpump, not sure if I'll keep the -8 to the rail or go -10, FIC 950s, keep my -10 Aeromotive rail, and -10 Aeromotive FPR, -6 return.
