Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...

Its interesting that shims could make such a difference... isn't it just a really thin piece of metal?

Yup, its a thin piece of stainless steel. The stock shims only cover about half the pad though and I think it was affecting how the piston was contacting the pad. Everything I'm reading and everyone I'm talking to (track guys) agrees that stock shims should not be used on aftermarket pads, and even aftermarket shims will lead to a softer/less-direct pedal feel so they should only be use if you can't get the pads to stop squealing and/or you're boiling brake fluid.

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...

Ah, interesting. I can't imagine they'd even help that much to keep the brake fluid from boiling... how much insulating can a thin piece of steel really do?

Makes sense though, the pistons were probably hitting the pad at the edge of the shim and making weird things happen.

I love buying new toys

Seat lowering brackets! These will lower both front seats about 1.5".

I'd put $ on helmet+roof. I know I hit the roof of about any car I get in with a helmet on.

Bingo. Even with a helmet on I have plenty of head room with the stock setup. I'm hoping to improve the driving feel (I want to feel like I'm IN the car, not ON it) along with lowering the center of gravity.

I suppose these work best for tall fuckers like yourself huh? lol

I don't think I'd want to sit any lower in that car if it was mine, but I can see where you would want these.

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...

I replaced the tube that goes from the UICP to the BOV with a nice black silicone 90* bend coupler yesterday and I got the Binary seat lowering brackets installed today! They really drop the seats and its a pretty dramatic change! I like it though since I now really feel like I am riding in and apart of the car. Zac (hellomynameis) helped me install them and he also really likes the feel. I'll have to do the fiancee test later...

*edit*
Passed the fiancee test! Janelle likes them.

Maybe you need to learn how to spell. Fiance is the future groom, fiancee is the future bride
