Stock Flywheel vs Aftermarket

Alright guys so i'm just curious as to how many of you are using the STOCK awd flywheel? I ordered everything for my trans rebuild and have been debating getting a aftermarket one (ACT, ext..) because i've heard of bad things happening on the stock flywheel. I won't be making crazy power this year, goal is 400-450 by end of summer or what I can get with this 20g.
Any thoughts are welcome
Mark

Lighter flywheels are nice for quick revs, but it doesn't drive as nice. You have to rev it up a bit more to get it off the line. I want back to stock on mine years ago. Just make sure you inspect it for hairline cracks because some have exploded in high horse applications.

Mark, I have the ACT aftermarket wheel and I love it. It drives just as nice as a stock flywheel and mine is even barely turned/polished for perfection before I put it in. You can even try mine if you'd like. I wouldn't go aluminum unless you knew you weren't going to daily and I would go twin clutch if you have no budget. Long story short, I'd move up from stock if I'm going to the effort of replacing one in the first place.

Yea thats the forum I had in mind. I have a act streetlite in my car right now (fwd). Really want the safety comfort one brings but it would push my install date back some.

I always ran the stock one for drivability reasons.

Re: Stock Flywheel vs Aftermarket

Yes I probably will be running the stock one. My power goals are my only concern.

I wouldnt be concerned at those power levels, unless its in shit condition or something. I ran 541hp @ DB (628 @ MAP) with my stock one.
