Rear O2 Sensor.. damn MN Roads!

I was driving today and this lady in front of my suddenly changes lanes and before I know it I'm running over 2 huge pieces of hard asphalt on the lovely roads of Minnesota Then the check engine light came on and wont go away. Since my car is lowered it made things worse because somehow those two huge pieces of asphalt hit my rear O2 Sensor on the exhaust. I jacked up my car and found that the O2 sensor had been knocked out half way and some sort of ground wire or some wire has broken of its mount point and is just hanging there. I tried to look in the manuals where that wire is supposed to go but I can't figure it out. I think that wire is some sort of ground wire for the O2 sensor but I'm not sure. It looks like it was welded somewhere but broke off from the impact. I put the O2 sensor all the way back in but the check engine light still didn't turn off. I'm guessing that wire will fix the check engine light. If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it.

Car Specs:
-1997 GSX
-Stock turbo
-Boost Controller
-catback exhaust

Fix the wire and then unhook your battery for a minute or two which will reset your ECU and you should be fine. The CEL won't go away unless you have a logger to pull the code and reset it or two do what I said above.

do you have any idea where the wire welds to? I tried to look everywhere for the mount point but couldn't find it.

I have no idea, if its a ground then just make sure its grounded good. If its not a ground then I don't know where it goes without looking.

Just ground the wire and then pull the battery cable. And see if the CEL comes back.
