DSM Farewell
Selling my 92 GSX or giving it to my brother and going with 04-05 STi, I want something that I won't have to worry about for a while, and something new so that its my Project. The EVO is too much for me!

Re: DSM Farewell
kbb on an 05 STI is like $26k. That's about what I paid for my 05 Evo, and 03's and 04's can be had for much less. Plus you won't have to drive a damn Subaru

I'm so cunfused! Your name is 94AWDTSi but you have a 92 GSX. Do you have an EVO or are you saying that an EVO is too much money, the STi isn't less...what's happening...I think I'm blind.

I sold 94AWDTSi, I'm driving 92 GSX, planning to selling 92 and buy STi. EVO is one of the most expensive cars to own. Haha , there was a thread about it! Plus I do want an MR, but they go for like $32K still! But I'll keep looking for an EVO!

Re: DSM Farewell
To be honest with ya. Do not get the STi. The Evo hands down is alot better. I mean ya the MR is the best model out there. But granted the RS and IX are still good. They are cheaper too. You can have a new STi for 32 grand. Compared to having a Evo RS for 29 grand. And the Evo comes with a aftermarket boost gauge. But eh...do what you want. I think you be better off with the Evo. It is alot better.

Re: DSM Farewell
Maybe he meant the Evo is too much for him as far as power. It's funny that a 286HP rated Evo 9 will put down a decent amount more HP to the wheels on a dyno than a 300HP rated STi. And then with an exhaust, MBC and tuning you can pick up another 60-70whp with the Evo 9.

Re: DSM Farewell
Check out cars.com and carsoup.com, both have a ton of dealer listings. EVO's have a lot stronger trannies too.

Yeah man, dont go subie. I know a guy thats been through 3 trannies already. I would look for a private party Evo, I bet it will be a lot less than from a dealer.

Re: DSM Farewell
not to mention tuning on a subaru is wack, and harder to make big power with them then the evo. After owning both your cars, I'd think you would know your way around an evo motor pretty well. Remember, buying a newer car doesn't mean shit. Older cars have old problems. New cars, have new problems.

Re: DSM Farewell
Which is better....EVO or STi? Totally depends on what you want the car for. If I were looking for a fun summer-only car that wouldn't be driven daily I'd go for the EVO. Much easier to make big power too. If I wanted a nicer car to drive everyday I'd go for the STi since they have nicer interiors and are more comfortable. EVO insurance is also more $$$ so consider that too.

Not true in all cases; at least not in mine. An STi was $10 more a month. '05 vs '05.

Re: DSM Farewell
The Subaru is a nightmare to tune... you can get the access port and whatnot but their ECU's learn and shit and end up making the same power after a few days of resetting the ECU.
But IMO I would buy one over an EVO if I were in the market, they look better, sound way better than any other 4 Cyl on the market and perform just as well as an EVO. But then again my opinion changes everyday, I like them both equally for different reasons.... fucking cars.

Thats cool then, who are you with? From the insurance list I saw the EVO was the #1 most expensive car to insure (this of course is a list of "regular" cars, no exotics). The STi was on the list too somewhere, the S2000 was #7.
