Pos Act Pressure Plate

So I purchased one of the "new" act pressure plates which has around 1500 miles on it and my clutch stopped disengaging. So I dropped the tranny and the pressure plate fingers were stuck in, and once I disconnected the pressure plate they popped back out. Do I risk trying to re-use it or should I purchase a new one. I am going to try and get it warrantied but I purchased it about 105 days ago so I'm a few days out of luck.

They are suppose to be "stuck" in when the PP is on the flywheel....

When you push in the clutch, it pushes the fingers in even further to disengage.

I know that they are supposed to be part way in, so I'll see if anything fixed itself by reinstalling everything.... hopefully as I'm sick of working on this thing (especially since I dont own it anymore)

Well if it doesnt disengage, there is an issue with the clutch master/slave/fork/TOB.

Seeing you are staying the fingers are "stuck" in. Well "in" is disengaged.

When installing, the fingers should be damn near straight. To disengage it, you need to push the fingers towards the clutch disk/flywheel.

There are some more possiblities too. Bad disk, loose flywheel bolts or crankwalk are the ones I can think of.

could it be a defective pressure plate, the disk is like new and there is not crankwalk and I went through the hydralics but I could have missed something I guess. I'll let you know what I find tommorow

A PP doesn't usually go bad like that. It is much more likely that it is the disk. For a PP the fingers can get weak and not hold the power or the rivets can come out and it physically starts to fall apart, or the inner surface gets trashed and it slips also. Are the springs on the disk ok? They like to die pretty often and get stuck in there.

Check your TOB. My OEM TOB was in a million pieces and I didn't know it was in a million pieces until I unhooked it from the fork and it just disintegrated. It killed my pp.

I repaired 3 1G clutch pedal in last few years. they start to wear out notch at the end of shaft mounted to pedal. you can repair it by welding the end or just get the used pedal assembly.

Check the output shaft the TOB rides on. I had one wear so badly that the TOB couldn't ride over it, which then wouldnt allow the clutch to engage fully.

It sounds like a disengaging issue. Bent throw out fork, bad pivot ball, bad clutch master or slave cylinder, miss adjusted clutch pedal, floor mat in the way.

Did you try bleeding the clutch system? Something that simple might have kept you from pulling the trans back out. I had the same problem recently, thought the fork might have punched through on the pivot ball, bled the system and it is working perfectly.
