Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter

620 miles roundtrip this weekend, cruise control set at 85 most the time, with a few jaunts into the 90's just because passing people in this thing is hilarious, especially with the gobs of torque on tap! Averaged 34 MPG which I think is pretty good for those speeds. It's rated at 40 MPG highway, which seems to be possible when around 65 MPH or below (got about 45 coming back from a casino in Oklahoma two weeks ago). The car was very comfortable, and above all else, nearly silent even at fast highway speeds. Almost eerily quiet with minimal wind noise. Cool car, great purchase...definitely due for a good wash & wax tonight after work!

Unlimited for the 35-40 mile range

On gas it's rated at 35 MPG city.

That would be sweet for DD duty. Most people I'm sure they're daily work commute falls within that range. Wonder if employers would let you plug in at work? I'd have to run a long ass extension cord I think, which I'm guessing they wouldn't be fond of.

Rained 24 of 31 days! Wettest May on record for DFW, 2/3" shy of the wettest month ever on record.

Everything was fine & normal in San Antonio though, apparently the flood gates were all working as intended on the river since nothing appeared out of the ordinary on the Riverwalk.

From reading online, it sounds like employer reactions are about 50/50 for guys when they ask building maintenance/management about plugging in during the day. My guess is buildings nationwide will slowly begin following California's lead and start including charging stations, or at least access to outlets, in new construction office complexes. Looking around the DFW area it's actually surprising how many restaurants and hotels already offer charging stations for customers. The Chili's near me has 2 or 3 reserved spots with Level 2 (240V) chargers and I'm tempted to go just to try it out.

I'd plug it in at work, but after 4pm it's just me and one other person at work.

T-boned by a GMC Canyon. Luckily the speeds were fairly low and the car held up well. The side curtain airbags did deploy. OnStar called the police and immediately sent a kill signal to the engine.

damn man, I think it looks worse than it really is though, doors probably just meant to crumple like that. I bet that's completely fixable.

I sure hope so. I have a nearly identical (but 2013 instead of 2012) Volt on-hold at a Carmax down in Austin just in case, but ideally I hope this once can be repaired since it's in nearly perfect condition, has new tires, and has all the maintenance up-to-date. Luckily, the suspension/wheels/tires all appear fine, and the fact none of the glass broke is a good sign I would imagine.

Exactly what it reminded me of as well! At least this truck didn't have a brush guard.

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter

It's at the Chevy dealership's collision center now and should hear from the insurance company later this week on what they're thinking. With all the electronics, I figured it was a wise choice to let the dealership handle this one rather than the body shop I typically use.
