Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

Is this car a 2.3 or 2.4? I can't remember.

Regardless, very nice spool for such a beast turbo.

Thanks guys. Yea its spooling very good for the size of it, the 2.3 helps. I'm very impressed with the response. I looked at the log a little closer and saw that I need to get more fuel to the rail. The injector duty at 6700 RPM was 88% on the 2150's. I highly doubt that it is using that much fuel. This was with E75 in the tank. I ordered – 8 for the supply. I also need to perform the high pressure mod to the walbros too. This should fix the fuel supply problem.

I'm going to dyno this thing at MAP hopefully March 13th!

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

I noticed that I had a small pool of fluid under my car. And confirmed it was transmission fluid. I checked around and determined that it was coming from an area where a steel ball is pressed in a passage to seal it up.

I contacted Jacks and the culprit was shipping damage. I didn’t want to pull the transmission out to fix it, so I had a good discussion with Jack and determined that I could TIG weld it while it was in the car. I removed the bearing and lathed up an aluminum piece to fill the gap. I welded it and no leak anymore!

I don't have a post weld pic but it turned out good. What a pain in the ass, at least I didn’t need to remove the transmission!

This thread reinforces why I want a lathe/mill/welder/etc whenever I land somewhere permenantly and have my own place.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

I'm ready for the dyno next week. I punched out my walbros and installed an8 hose and an aeromotive stainless 40 micron filter too. I have a home brew mix of E85 in the tank, 5 gallons of E98 added to about 4 gallons of E70. Good thing I still rock the ethanol content gauge, made it super easy to mix! I shouldn't have any fuel issues now. Hopefully the dyno goes smooth, finding this stuff out prior to strapping it in is a huge benefit.

These pics are lame but oh well!

And again you avoided total catastrophic failure! Is that failure at all common for the X?

Yea, it is pretty damn common. Pretty dumb imho.

Love the fuel setup but be wary, Lomker had issues with his FB hanger on his X. It worked great on the dyno but not on the street when fuel was sloshing around.

Good luck man!

I think its more of a X problem though...I don't know if I have ever seen an 8/9 have any issues like the X does with fuel hangars.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

I've had the hanger for years now and have not experienced any issues, but my setup was never consuming this much fuel. Thanks for the heads up, I will be paying extra attention.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

I have to say a special thanks to Jordan for tuning my beast and the entire team at MAP. Thanks for all of the support for my cars. This Evo is fun and beyond my expectation! WTF crazy power, 600 lb/ft of torque, I'm just in awe with this 6266!

This was done in 4th gear on E85 with 36 psi. And the project is done now! As a note this turbo is out of steam up top, we could have pushed more boost but it makes no sense, as I'm still running an exedy twin HD it would have made more torque down low cause it to fail. I think this will do for a safe street tune.

Check it out! Not sure about correction but I know it’s a 1.0 factor.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

careful with 4th.

A guy on teh link forums hit 700whp and 600+tq at 45psi, then 4th ate its face.

Congrats

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

Torque curve so flat!

damn that is awesome Mark, that new 6266 seems pretty damn baller! Spool is very good too, I know its in 4th but still pretty damn good.

Congrats and hopefully I get to see this thing soon.

4th is typically on 650whp+ cars...as 3rd gear is way too short for tuning and a lot of times tires break loose in 3rd on the dyno with so much power.

Link forums, dsm's will eat 3rd and 4th, trust me I keep track of my DSM and how many time it goes through 4th. My dsm will never see 4th from a roll on due to this.

This was just for the dyno.
