Exhaust mani studs

Ok 3 of my exhaust manifold stud holes were stripped. I decided to get a tap & die set and tapped the 3 stripped holes into new shiney 9mm x 1.25 holes. Problem here now is I can't find any 9mmx1.25 bolts or studs at the local hardware store. I'm stuck now, I've searched online with no luck. I've heard about the helicoil inserts but I have never used them. I've measured and it seems like if I tap the hole a little bigger 10mmx1.25 the new studs will be too big and won't fit through the exhaust manifold holes unless I port them bigger which I don't want to. What can I do? What seemed like an easy fix has now become a pita.

Re: Exhaust mani studs

m8x1.25
m10x1.25

Those are the 2 stud sizes pending years, etc.
Congrats you probably fucked up your head. Time to learn how to heli-coil.

Don't you all have Fastenals up North?

Re: Exhaust mani studs

Fastenals are all over the Twin Cities area. Why not just go to M10x1.25? Just drill the holes in your manifold bigger... Or you could just go and get the Helicoil kit for the M8x1.25. To Helicoil, you just drill the ruined hole to a tap drill size for the heilcoil insert. Then u tap that larger hole, and thread in a special insert leaving the original hole. It's easy, I had to do it on my turbo oil feed line on the head. I did it on the car

Re: Exhaust mani studs

Where did you get the helicoil kit from? Online or a local store?
