Re: My ultimate streetcar

Been a busy past few couple months, but I have a few updates for the dsm. In an effort to help this tiny 8cm housing breathe better with the huge compressor strapped to the other side, I took the grinder to it. I tried to open up the narrow part just after the waste gate vent as much as I dared. Manifold I didn't do much more than take the gating off a couple of the runners and smooth things out, didn't figure there was much to gain there.

Block is back from Gosh. Did a nice job with the rings on that, don't mind the hone job, it wasn't mint to start with, making hp, and piston sealing has never been an issue with any dsm I've had.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I have yet to find a good drain flange for a mitsu housing that actually worked. So I did what any machinist/car guy would do, I made my own. It's 1/2 NPT, I made it wider than the 1" ones you normally get, and I stopped the threads just short on the ID so the flange side hole would be smaller, to give it more width to seal on the gasket. Along with giving it the proper hole pattern to make it fit the mitsu without a mile of slop. I ended up using 7075, hopefully it doesn't corrode too bad. If I had a piece of 6061 I would have just used that. Reassembly should start next week. Still have to install the fuel line setup, and run some better wire from the CDI box to the coil pack so I don't loose any spark energy from that.

Oh, and does anyone have any 1.5" 321 stainless pipe around? Looking to redo the short part to the wastegate flange on this O2 housing with the right material so I don't have to re-weld it weekly.
