Maybe you can help the parts guys by giving them the model they need instead of a vin number. I know the parts system they use you can plug in a model instead of a vin and get the same results. Take a peek at this site:

For example, an EVO X, GSR is a CT9A. The parts guys should be able to plug that in along with the knowledge of it being a GSR model to find the needed part. If they can't they shouldn't be working there. LOL And if you are a true Mitsu nut you should know your model by heart. (Z16A for life!!!!)
A good parts guy should not need a vin.
