Damn tom, your absolutely right, I will go throw all my micrometers, dial indicators and bore gauges away, and especially that worthless suface plate. Imagine, the pointless purchase that was. Check something, find out its out of tollerance and stand there wondering what to do about it. Geez, what was I thinking? hahahaha. Why do you assume there is nothing that can be done about it? Just because you don't know what to do? Your one of "those" people arn't you? Stand around saying "it" (whatever it may be) won't work to make yourself look intelligent instead of using what little brain you have to help figure out a solution. Stick with Microsoft, it fits you well. If there isn't a pre canned solution to you problem available for download, you can just blame Microsoft and call it done.
