You need to stay away from the hood release of your car. That is my advice.
Are you serious? He was kidding about the hammers and screwdriver... wow.
Have a reputable shop rebuild it. Have it either profesionally built by a dsm shop or have Rick Shindley do it, he charges good prices.
Oh and if you want to save money do NOT take it to the dealer.
