I'm sorry but in trying to further his education Kerry was to study in France, when he was told by the miltary he couldn't he joined the Navy and went on to do great things.

Lighting to answer your question about having to have been in a war to be a good leader. Politicians have always and will always use proven leadership in the most extreme enviroments to show their leadership qualities.

People not in the military may aswell be strong leaders, they just need to show us in another way. For instance buisness records, which in this case don't look good for Bush.
