First of all, let me say that 90's suck. I have to dig a bit longer for everything to figure out how it comes off.

On the intake manifold stay, there is a electrical connector (not the knock sensor) that is bolted onto it. What is it for? I am not going to be putting the intake manifold stay back on. Do I need it? Is it a california model thing? Here is a pic:
