The guy showed his gun because he was scared of the black guy approaching him. That is the undercurrent of racism that exists. People learn to be racist and it's passed down from generations. On the other side, fear and anger from being discriminated against is also learned and passed down through generations.
If nobody ever talked about any of this, slavery would still exist. |

When I read these types of comments in threads it makes me shake my head wondering if you truly interact with people of color on a regular basis or if you are going by what you read and see on TV. I'm in the south and I work with many blacks (and Latinos/Mexicans), color doesn't matter to me, I treat everybody with respect and they treat me with respect. Might be hard to believe that all us white southerners aren't racist if you watch enough MSNBC, CNN, SHARPTON, JACKSON, ETC. I work at a Porsche dealership with many blacks, some are very successful business people and some I wouldn't trust to mop the floor. And you know what, there are whites here that fit both of those catagories too, imagine that. I also work with many customers of all races that easily fit into each of those catagories. But what I do see in one catagory that I don't see in others, the blacks who don't apply themselves want to blame their poor performace and failures on some mystical "oppression by the man" instead of working hard like the rest of us. They don't seem to understand that if you want to make big money, you have to be a big asset to the business, not a leech. I see it all the time, the guy that half ass washes a car will be the one complaining about how he's under paid and "the man is keeping him down".
There's a big difference between the slavery of generations ago and whats happening today. Back then slavery was legal and should have been talked about because a race of people were being abused and held against their will.
Today they are choosing to buy into the "oppression" and becoming modern day slaves of their own making.
