If you want my advice, I would buy a nice reliable daily driver, that you wont be tempted to modify at all. Then once you get that, go out and buy a project car like a Supra or RX-7 or something. Something that you can pay cash for, or pay off really quick. If you plan on making some big power, or taking your car to the track, especially a road course, you will thank yourself later. There's nothing worse than making car payments (especially big ones) on a car with a blown motor sitting in the garage. And the last thing you want to do, is put the shiny side down on a road course, and have to make payments on a car that's totalled.
That's just my take on things. Plus with a nice DD, you won't feel so bad about taking out the ac, and other useless stuff on your race car.
