I was actually listening to a "Green" program a while back and they brought up a good point. People like us, who work on cars and have plenty of chemicals around, can add lots of pollution after a natural event. All those chemicals in your garage, break clean, extra oil for the next change, paint and other cleaning chemicals all get massively dumped after an event like this. Soiling ground water shortly after an even making it hazardous to drink.
Not to mention Japan is a developed country with plenty of business that use large amounts of chemicals for production. That country will be in trouble for some time.

My thoughts exactly regarding the future of the company. I cannot fathom the cost and time it will take to restore that country to where it was on say the Tuesday before the quake.
