While I agree with the statements made by others saying its good to know what our government is doing, it is NOT good to allow our enemies - both foreign and domestic - to know what we know and what we are doing. That is just giving them an upper hand.
I wouldn't go as far as to call him a terrorist, but being in possession of illegally obtained, classified govt information clearly makes me a criminal. What if someone from the Taliban or North Korea hacked into a computer and stole this same information? Would you be praising them too?

The comparison of Assange and TPB are actually very similar. It comes down to Censorship and regulation of OTHER countries people that do not live in the US. Not obiding by that countries laws and soveriegnty. TPB does not host any illegal movies or music on their servers, but simply host a file/database that tells the program where to look for files on other computers that are willingly sharing, this is not against the law in SWEDEN. Just like Wikileaks is not against the law in France where it is hosted. You cannot impose US Law on another country. Just like you SHOULDNT be able to impose US Regulation on the Internet to Censor where people look for information (dotP2P project will hopefully correct this).
The information was not illegally obtained BY Wikileaks, but given to wikileaks by a source, anonymously, Wikileaks just presented it to the people so they know what their government is doing. The same thing is done when a source goes to a media outlet for a breaking story. Wikileaks is not targeting the US, they have released information about many other countrys including China, and Iceland.
Its not like they are giving out battle formations and locations/names of 007 spys. We are talking about videos and information such as the video of the US killing the reuters reporters via helicoper, which shed light that we seem to be blowing anyone away gathering in a group of more than three people.
