From the first page, a monopoly (OPEC) does control the price of gas. They can cut production to increase the demand. With an increase in demand comes an increase in the price level to sustain the new market equilibrium.

Gas prices don't bother me at all. Gas eats up such a small amount of my budget it doesn't even matter. I think it is funny when people drive around thinking that a 5 cent difference per gallon actually means something. WOW, that saves 60 cents on the price of a fill up!!! I just don't see how people can bitch about the prices of gas rising. If you owned a business and you could raise the price and make more money, you would too.
