It's not the type of mod you can do yourself. One of the local NTEC members, Acree, started off doing conversions for 350Z's. He starting working on his Evo 9 and wanted to do some Evo 10's just to get his work out there for the local guys. I'm one of only 2 guys here in the DFW area that Acree has converted thus far.
When I say it's not a DIY mod, that's because you have to physically unsolder the red LED's from the stock components and get the right replacement LED (in whatever color) so that the circuit functions as normal. I'm pretty sure he had to throw some resistors into some of the stock parts so that everything runs smoothly.
The color changing needle is much more involved. I'm not sure what exactly he ended up doing, but he custom fabricated his own circuit board to put the LED's on so that the needle would grab light from the proper light source as it goes around the gauge. In the end, since it was only a 2 color conversion (blue to red with it being purple in the "bleed over" section), I think he just replaced the stock LED's and it came out pretty damn good.
