I spoke at my old college while i was in transition between jobs this last time, to a class of IT students that the IT education director was teaching. The quicker they realise that its a tough market out there and they will have to take great lengths to get good expirence. Same goes for your friends, in todays market they need to move if need be to the larger concentration of jobs in radiology and engineering. Even if they have to take a job lower than their knowledge etc. Expirence is Expirence. I wasnt suggesting they go out to mcdonalds for a job, i was simply stating that you cant expect to be a senior level engineer fresh out of college.

In case you forgot, I'm in IT as well. I never implied anything about them getting upper level jobs, why are you even saying that? You clearly haven't understood anything I've said. They can't find a job. Period. The friend in radiology went to Mayo for school and they don't even have a job for her there, nor anyone in her class. Last I heard is that there was an actual waiting list for recent grads who wanted jobs at Mayo. You're acting as if you're Nelson from the Simpsons laughing at them because they chose the career path they did.
