I think sealing surfaces in general. If a gasket can be used RTV should be avoided. If the manufacturer calls for RTV by all means. But even then extreme caution should be taken. So you dont end up like me. Having to worry about how long your bearings are going to last or how much has cycled though the engine.

Quick Update: Its all been put back together properly no oil leaks nothing. The car is significantly quieter that whine was pretty audible i noticed now that it is gone. Oil pressure builds a lot faster and stays relatively consistent.
