I was going to say more earlier but had to run out of the house, so I posted what I had and held off.

This reminds me somewhat of what Talk and Tuners are doing for Wendy Pate, who was diagnosed with cancer and it was looking like she'd never be able to achieve her dream of hitting 10s in her FWD DSM. Her husband's been working with shops and members across the country to get the car built, tuned, and ready for the track. It's a much larger scale, but a lot more detached and impersonal in comparison, though it's still really cool to see what these communities can do at the plight of a single member.
