If you have the proper parts, you pull off the front cover, pull off the two balance shafts. The one driven by the oil pump either gets a turned down shaft or a stubby shaft. With the stubby shaft you need to remove the old bearings (use the old balance shaft to pound them out) and reinstall new bearings but use them to block off the oil passages.
