Re: Can you give up going out ONE Friday OR Saturday a MONTH?

I've thought about doing something like this, just haven't yet. To me, it's kind of easy to see who here has not been outside the US, and who has. Yes we have hungry kids in Minneapolis. That doesn't come close to comparing to the hungry kids in 3rd world countries. That's a whole different kind of hungry over there. Our homeless here have it nicer than some of the people with "homes" in other countries. And I don't mean to take away from those in need here. I just mean to say that there are people all over the globe, with varying needs for help, and it's great when someone, does something to help another, in any neck of the woods whether it be here, or Asia/Africa/etc.

It's everyones own personal decision on if they want to donate to someone overseas, someone within the country, etc. The point isn't to pick apart someones good deed, but to simply understand that it's a good deed in the end. Donating time, money, SOMETHING, to help another in need, is a beautiful example of a person reaching out to help someone else less fortunate than yourself. That person who is actually DOING (not the person(s) just sitting back and talking about it on the internet), gets to chose where he wants to place his good deed.

I'm all for donating. It makes this world a better place overall, and it makes you feel better as a person. There's a million ways to donate money, time, toys, old clothes, adoption (people and/or animals) etc. I say good on anyone who does it, and shame on anyone who feels the need to negitively judge someone else on how they chose to do there part in helping another.

Me personally, the only real donating I do is every year I give two toys to the Toys for Tots Marine Corps foundation. It feels good to give. I could do more, and probably should do more, but at least I'm doing something, just like I know there are many others on here that do as well. Someday I may consider doing something like these child adoption programs.
