I am an accountant at a CPA firm. Primarily deal in corporate tax but I pretty much do anything related to accounting and taxes.

What I am trying to say is that you should find a job which supports the lifestyle you want to live. I happen to know several people who are working a job they like, wanting to live a greater lifestyle, and are planning to find someone to make it happen. There are some jobs which just do not pay enough to live off of (daycare for example).

My ex-fiance stopped paying anything towards the mortgage when I got a better job. She stopped paying me the $400/month (of the $1100/mo or so she made) and was still broke at the end of the month. Didn't bother her at all that I was paying the $15xx/mo mortgage payment and the rest of our expenses.

Find a job you like, look at the pay range and see if that is the lifestyle you want to live. People sometimes get too caught up on what they want to do that they forget about the primary reason they are working in the first place (money).

I don't like to work for free....
