Question External Oil Filter.

The DSM in my opinion is not that well thought out when it comes to physical layout of all the components.

At least from a user serviceability standpoint.

*****Clarification: my goal is to attach an external oil filter housing, somewhere away from the exhaust, and as a bonus, feed clean oil to the turbo, in case of engine failure, I don't want to lose both my engine and my turbo (HAPPENED TO ME)********

The 90 oil filter housing is just fine, but for cars that do not have the 90 oil filter housing and all the cooling, I will be doing something completely different.

First, take your 91+ oil filter housing and cut it the hell in half, at a slight angle exposing the two holes going to the oil filter side of the housing.

Weld on two -8AN bungs.

Connect one of these (somewhere else in the engine bay, perhaps where the washer fluid goes)

2x "IN"
2x "OUT"

comes with 2x plugs already installed. remove one plug.

attach "IN" to oil filter housing (pump side)
attach "out" to turbo
attach "out" to cooler -> feed to engine.

cost at walmart $21 (comes with fuel filter, throw away and use oil filter.)

benifits: never feed dirty oil to your turbo (killed a turbo that way )

thoughts?
