My stocker made 460 whp on a DD

Your power is going to be dropping off with a small turbo anyway. The SMIM would probably help a little, but won't be a huge help at those levels. I would get the car on the road and dyno'd, then if it seems to be a restriction, change it. It is an easy swap.
