I had the regular one that you are referring to but also remember the cold air intake. Wonder why they discontinued it...

I have had several intakes, stocker, ABS, dejon tool, sweet chrome cast pipe, and a home-made cold air intake which was in the stock location. Personally, I didn't notice a change but then again I didn't dyno the car between intake swaps. I pretty much swapped them as I changed to bigger and bigger turbos.

I wouldn't even think to consider the weight of an intake when looking for one. The weight relative to the rest of the car is nothing. My old cast pipe could have probably been made up by skipping dinner.

A lot of people who posted on this thread have followed dsms for some time now. I am not a bit suprised that nobody has proof that an intake will increase HP.

I personally would have done it long before but don't think that you will see much of a gain. If you see any, I would attribute it to the colder/more dense air.
