I am running an elbow down to the stock SMIC location it help, temps were cooler, less knock of course and I think a few lbs/min were gained too.
I have a 12x24x3.5 Precision core with 2.5" piping.
I could never decide about what intake to get because they are all ridiculously priced not to mention I couldn't decide on turbo setup. Then I had some 4" pipe and its stupid heavy so I wanted something light and found an FP intake with recirc, couplers, clamps for $70 all said and done. I even have the extra reducer coupler.
