What makes a turbo produce boost sooner?

1) polar moment of inertia - probably not all that great on a turbo meant for a 350+ cu in diesel as the designers knew they had a LOT of high temperature exhaust mass to help get that turbine going.

2) a/r ratio. a conical nozzle wrapped into an exh housing. small ratios spool quick and reach choke early. this is likely why these turbos spool fast, if they even do at all.

3) a bazillion other factors

I dont understand the need to get a random redheaded-stepchild turbo to be different.

"wow your car sure is slower than my gt30R car, but props for being different!"
