We fucked ourselves by letting corrupt anti-American companies like Walmart force all of our manufacturing to countries like China, then sell it back to us and then people can only afford to shop at shitholes like Walmart. Maybe we will get lucky and things will get better soon, but it doesn't look good with so many companies closing and the big automakers doing horrible.

It's not just the fact of jobs being shipped over seas. Were in this mess because of all the banks and home lending places literally giving out mortgages to every mother fucker that couldn't afford them; note that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had over
$5,000,000,000,000
worth of mortgages!!!
AND NOW WE THE TAX PAYERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT!!!
At least we'll get some kind of fucking stupid rebate down the road that we can all go out and buy lots of alcohol with.
Plus, even if the economy takes a dump, it's not just us that go down, the whole damn world gets sucked into the black hole with us. I know you've all noticed Europe has been bailing out banks left and right (not literally, but a number of countries have done this already) and every time the market here goes down 500 points, Japan's market tanks 5%. So at least were all in this together, one big happy world.
