I mean one volcano can release a pyroclastic cloud that travels for miles. Now times that volcano by like 10000 and you already covered the earth. Personally I think it would almost rip the earth apart. That big of a shock wave rolling thru the mantel would have to bust the crust up other places too, and more than likely knock us out of our current orbit.
