I'm not arguing the amount of fuel used idling. 30% does seem high, and a skiing magazine as the source seemed dubious but I'm not saying it isn't true. My argument is that it is no business of the government. If I want to spend my money to buy gas so I can idle running the heat, A/C, my laptop, tv or really just because I feel like it, why shouldnt I be able to?

How does me idling infringe on your freedom? I think what the law really says is that someone else feels like they are paying too much for gas, so they are going to tell me what I can and can't do with mine so they can get theirs cheaper.

Who's infringing on whos rights?

If the trucking/cab/etc companies want to save some money they can cut down on the idling, but maybe they have weighed the pro's and con's and decided the extra money for gas is worth it, whatever their reasons may be. The point is it is their money and their gas and their trucks.
