Linux gurus,

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good program for linux to do Virtual machines?
I am looking at creating a test environment with Windows Server 2008, some vista vms and such.
Also would Linux be the way to go for creating such environment or should i stick with Windows XP Pro to host the VM Software?
Kind of OT, but Which Linux GUI do you find the best/coolest/easiest to learn?
