Those old sherman tank engines have lots of nifty little features. cam gears for the dohc heads were driven by a worm-screw drive if i remember right.

Pretty much WW2 invented everything we use today in our cars. turbos, compound turbocharging, super/turbo compound charging, nitrous, meth and water injection. All sorts of brilliant insanity.
