Actually, what you said about saving up for the eclipse you want is your best bet. But make sure you keep your neon in good running shape. Don't mod it or anything. You will need a spare car for when your eclipse breaks after modding it too much.
Seriously though, if the neon runs good and gets good gas mileage, keep it that way!!! You will really like to have it around when gas prices go thru the roof or when you need to haul around more than one extra person. It's always nice to have a fall back car.
