On topic though, in general you do hear about people rebuilding these PTE turbos more often than say a 16g or 20G, but there are probably more cases where people are seeing similar life out of 50 and 61's. JET is a good example of this.
My 50 trim took a TON of abuse including running without a filter for a good period of time. It took a beating and never failed me.
The SCM61 that i have now seems to handle itself quite well.
Fuck it, if the car dies just buy another one, they come cheap these days.
