The slide locks aren't that bad once you get used to them. But I will agree, in a shop setting, a Snap-On box will far outperform a Craftsman. When you open drwaers hundreds to thousands of times a day, it pays to get something that will hold up.
I have never heard anything about Snap-On paint failing. Craftsman tends to bubble from rust. Of course it depends on the grade of box from either one I guess.
