Try to get a stay of continuance (I think that's what it's called) or something like that. If your record is clean, usually they will do this. Basically you end up paying a little more on the fine, but if you keep your nose clean for a certain period time they won't put the ticket on your record. It won't show up on your record during that time either unless you get another ticket. Frankly it's worth the extra few dollars to keep your insurance rates good and your record clean.

Cindy did this with her inattentive driving ticket. She has about a month left before it's done. Usually they go for a year. Hers was only 6 months.
