I guess Mike from RRE must be an idiot too. He pushed 400 at the wheels of his EVO. When he hit that, he was readily willing to blow the motor. He let the turbo boost untill it couldn't boost any higher. He purely wanted to see what it could take. And the motor took it, didn't break anything. The HP number he hit was purely turbo limited. They had the turbo on that thing maxed out. Sometimes research costs some money. It might sound insane to me and you, but to the people who have the money and the resources to take things to their limits for research, then it's worth it to them.

Hince what I was gettting at. Making a 'run' on an engine dyno is cool, to see if the turbo or whatever is choking off the system. But to continue to beat the car on the street afterwards is asking for it. My biggest beef is 'pump gas' and the 'motor' looked fine. BS! Whip out a microscope and check out the pistons, check the combustion chamber, check the headgasket, something must of gone. Hell if not, sign me up for an evo...i'll just unplug everything 'and let er buck' (sarcasm).
Research does take time and money, r&d and product designs (especially for one offs) take time and money, most people don't realize these problems and automatically assume everything is easy/cheap to build, bolt-on, or already pre-made. Pushing the boundaries is the entire reason imports are in the 7's, and unless they are continued to be pushed, the community will stop developing. (its late, hope that made sence).
