I'm surprised this is the first I've heard of this happening. I still get nervous being under a car, and I'm a safety nazi. I always use two very good jackstands, make sure the parking brake works and is on, and I gently rock the car side to side and front to back once it's on the jackstands just to make sure they're mounted securely.
