Pretty cool pics and story. One of the first things i thought of was, Have they ever heard of the term "recycle" ? There is a jazillion tons of steel there.
On a side note, they had a thing on Discovery tonight on the making of aircraft carriers. They take 7 years to build. The nuclear power plant can go upto 20 years without being refueled. It's an amazing process.
