 i think a good portion of dsm owners are quick to go to a larger turbo without actually maxing out the setup they currently have. you don't see as many people really trying to make their cars be the best they can be as you might hope. people run mid 12s with a 20g and decide its time for a larger turbo. people with 16gs cant trap higher than 100mph so they buy a 50trim. there isnt anything wrong with it if you can afford it, and im guilty of doing this myself; i went from a stock 14b car to what i have now without ever trying to max out what i had.
the reason i bring this up is because i see a pattern of people moving the emphasis off of fine tuning, problem solving, and driving practice, and on to turbo size and other bolt on parts. i am going to stick with my small pte turbo. there is ALWAYS somthing you can do to be faster, and i give props to guys like nash who really get the most out of their cars before they upgrade. and kudos to people who see what they can do with their 14b before they step up. i regret not doing it with my car. it can only help..
whats the point? the point is that people have runs 10s on 20gs, 11s on 14bs, made 500hp on 50trims, and smashed the shit out of drivetrains trying to get that special 1.7 60' pass(go allan). these are the guys i respect. ..and that doesnt mean i dont respect people with giant turbos. it just means that IMHO we do not need to rely on the size of our turbos to compensate for inadequecies elsewhere.
