i've installed one head before without doing that, and what we had to do was install a couple of the studs after the head was on because the head would not go on. it was either modify the mount, or take out a couple of the studs and put them back in once the head was already on. And he didn't wanna modify the mount, so we did it that way and it worked out fine, but i think its much easier to just modify the mount and not worry about it again.
